BREAKING: New Zone based at Vishakhapatnam, to be called SCoR

In a press conference sometime ago, Piyush Goyal, Minister for Railways and Coal, announced the formation of Indian Railways’ seventeenth zone based at Vishakhapatnam

The new zone will be called South Coast Railway, or SCoR. It will consist of the existing Guntakal, Guntur and Vijayawada divisions of South Central Railway (SCR) as well as a part of Waltair division from ECoR.

East Coast Railway will retain part of the Waltair division with a new divisional headquarters at Rayagada in Odisha.

With this, SCR will be left with Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Nanded divisions.
