India’s premier locomotive manufacturer, the state-owned Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) has produced 50 locos as of 22nd July for the year.
This is despite production being severely hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown.
The locomotive manufacturer had resumed production in May 2020 after a 49 day break imposed due to the lockdown.
The 50th locomotive of the year 2020-21 plan is WAG-9 HC 32814.
GM Praveen Kumar Mishra congratulated the entire team of staff, supervisors and officers for production of 50 locos this year despite the issues affecting delivery.
CLW produced 402 locos in FY2018-19 which was World Record recognized by Limca Book of Records. In FY 2019-20, CLW also produced 431 locos which, also another World record-breaking performance.
