Dear Railwaymen,

On the auspicious occasion of the 71st Republic Day, my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to all the members of the Railway Electrification family. This day is an occasion to remember the great patriots, as well as to assess our contribution towards nation building and realizing the dreams of our great leaders.

Energy efficient and environment friendly mode of transportation is one of the basic requirements for the economic growth of the country. These days, electrification of 100 percent of the routes of the railways has been taken as a mission area by the Government of India not only for the economic benefits but also for the de-carbonization of the country. We have electrified 3613 route kilometers of track during FY 2018-19, which is the best ever performance in the history of this organization.

A challenging target of electrification of about 4000 route kilometers of Indian Railways has been set during the year 2019-20. In the current year, 1701 route kilometers have already been electrified till the month of January. This year, attention is being paid to electrification of left over missing links and last mile connectivity sections of important rail routes, resulting in converted operation of 172 Mail-Express trains from diesel engines to electric locomotives.

With the electrification of the Gunjeria – New Jalpaiguri route, the smooth running of electric trains has been possible from Katihar to New Jalpaiguri section. Similarly, with the electrification of Badausa-Manikpur, it has been possible to operate electric trains from Allahabad to Jhansi. In the current financial year, 27 TSS and 122 SP/SSP were commissioned by the end of December 2019, which is 125% and 34% improvement respectively in comparison to previous year.

Similarly, at 205 stations and 98 level crossing gates, the modification work to suit RE was also done by the Signal and Telecommunication Department and 55 new block instruments were replaced. Above achievements show the tremendous potential and commitment of our officers and employees. A lot of work is being done in CORE on system improvement to accelerate railway electrification.

From beginning of the tender process to the issuance of the work order, the work is being done through e-tendering. EPC tenders have been started in CORE to achieve timely completion of electrification projects. I may further inform you that reverse auction has been started in the tendering process of railway electrification. The paperless technique of material management of the Government of India, Govt.- e-Marketplace (GEM) has been widely implemented in the CORE.

I am glad to informthat Principal Financial Advisor of CORE has been honoured with the Rail-Minister’s Rajbhasha Silver Medal in the year 2019 for his outstanding contribution towards Rajbhasha. CORE was awarded the Rajbhasha Gaurav Award by the Nagar Rajbhasha Karyanvayan Samiti, Allahabad in September. I congratulate everyone for their commendable contribution for the use of Rajbhasha.

We are committed towards “Swachchh Bharat Mission”. A total of 739 MT of copper scrap was disposed-off in the current financial year. This year, with the active participation of officers and employees, a special cleanliness drive was conducted in the Railway Electrification offices and colonies.

126 unit compactors have also been installed in the CORE Office for neat & clean record keeping of files and documents resulting in increased availability of precious office space. We are constantly trying to encourage sports activities in the CORE.

For the first time in the history of the CORE, recruitment of staff has been started under the Talent Scouting Quota. It is a matter of great pleasure that Ms. Neetu of Ambala project of our organization has received a silver medal in the 13th All India Railway Women’s Boxing Championships held in September 2019 at Karnail Singh Stadium, Delhi.

Men’s Veterans Badminton Team of the Railway Electrification Sports Organization got the runner up award in the All India Railway Badminton Championship held in New Delhi in the month of August. Health and welfare of employees is also our responsibility.

A health camp was organized for all officers and employees in the CORE Office. Unique Medical Identity Card (UMID) scheme has been implemented in the CORE, using which employee can now be treated in any railway hospital of the country. It is a matter of great pleasure that the Railway Electrification Women’s Welfare Organization is fully dedicated to the welfare of the employees and their family members.

Drawing and essay competitions has been organized by REWWO for the children of RE staff. Healthy Baby Camp has also been organized for children of employees on the occasion of Children’s Day.

I convey my best wishes to the recognized trade unions and association who have played a cooperative and constructive role in the achievement of our railway electrification goals and excellence.

Dear friends, even though the progress so far has been better in line with the target in the year 2019-20, a lot more has yet to be done to achieve this year’s ambitious target. I am confident that the CORE team will set new records by achieving the goal through mutual cooperation and coordination. Let us resolve once again on this national festival that we will be dedicated to complete the works of railway electrification with full devotion and dedication.
