CR: Mumbai Division Dispatches 11,400 Tonnes of Essential Commodities by Special Parcel Trains

Central Railway, with its time-tabled parcel trains has been consistently supplying essential commodities across the country during the lockdown and unlock period.
 
Central Railway’s Mumbai Division with its 356 services, has dispatched 11,400 Tonnes of essential commodities during the lockdown and unlock period from April-2020 to 29 August-2020.
 
During this period, Central Railway’s parcel trains departing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai and Kalyan have transported approximately 8,900 Tonnes of hard parcels like Electric goods, Electronic items, Machinery parts, Printed material and Postal bags to various destinations like Hazrat Nizamuddin, Shalimar, Howrah, Secunderabad, Chennai, Wadi, Nagpur etc.
 
Transportation of Perishables and Medicines was a challenging task and Central Railway rose to the occasion by carrying 1,010 Tonnes of Food items/Perishables, 817 tonnes of Medicines and 673 tonnes of Hospital Goods including Medical & Surgical equipments to various parts of the country.
