ECR’s Missive to Other Zones for Transferring Diesel Locos

East Central Railway has sent a missive to all other zones to consider a permanent transfer of its excess diesel locos that they hold.

The zone is faced with an excess number of diesel locos as most of its sections have been electrified.

The locos in question are WDG3A, WDM3D, WDM3B, WDM3A, WDG4D and WDG4.

ECR has three diesel sheds under its jurisdiction- Samastipur in Bihar, Mughalsarai (now Pt DeenDayal Upadhyay Jn in UP) and Patratu in Jharkhand.

The total diesel locos held by these three sheds is 197 in number (MGS-53, PTRU-100 and SPJ-44).

Another loco shed in its jurisdiction namely Narkatiaganj in North Bihar, homing metre gauge YDM4 diesel locos is temporarily shut as all of ECR’s metre gauge sections are under gauge conversion.

The projects are Mansi -Saharsa – Purnia; Jaynagar – Darbhanga – Narkatiaganj; Sakri-Laukaha Bazar – Nirmali; Saharsa -Forbesganj, and Jaynagar- Bijalpura, with extension to Bardibas in Nepal.
