Mission Raftaar: 130 kmph Approved on WCR Bhopal Division For 38 Train Pairs

In a move that may help cut down travel time, maximum speeds of 38 train pairs have been upgraded in Bhopal division to 130 kmph.

This follows Indian Railways’ decision to upgrade the speed limit for passenger trains on its trunk routes namely Golden Quadrilateral(GQ) and Golden diagonals (GD) in 2 phases- first from the present sectional speed to 130 kmph and then up to 160 kmph in the next three years.

According to the West Central Railway notification, these train pairs will run with 130 kmph between Bina- Bhopal -Bina on all three lines namely – DN line towards Bina, UP line towards Bhopal and the bi-directional third line between Bhopal and Bina.

With this upgrade, the Itarsi-Delhi route is now fully 130 kmph. 130 kmph trials have also been carried out on the Chennai-Vijayawada-Ballarshah section of the North-South Golden Diagonal.

However, no clear timelines are yet available for the upgrade of the Central Railway owned stretch of Ballarshah-Wardha-Nagpur-Itarsi on the same route.

The upgrade has been implemented effective January 3, 2021. The notification added that all conditions as per the RDSO certificate, joint safety certificate and other relevant certificates, besides observance of extant temporary and permanent speed restrictions along the section (TSR and PSR).
