Nagpur Metro: Sitabuldi-Lokmanya Nagar Stretch of 'Aqua-Line' inaugurated

The second stretch of the Nagpur Metro, between Sitabuldi and MIDC Hingna, was inaugurated by a host of ministers from the Centre and the state government today.

The 11-kilometre Sitabuldi Interchange-Lokmanya Nagar stretch is the second to go live in the city.

The Sitabuldi-Khapri stretch of the Orange Line was inaugurated in March 2019 and has since started full-fledged operations, with services every 15 minutes.

Nagpur Metro Aqua Line Service Details

Services on the Aqua Line will start from 28th January and will initially run at a frequency of 30 minutes at a maximum speed of 80 kph. Trains will run from 8 am to 8 pm.

The Aqua Line will begin with 6 stations. The remaining five stations will be commissioned over the course of this year. The fare between Sitabuldi Interchange and Lokmanya Nagar is Rs. 20.

Participating in the inauguration were Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and others.

Work on the Nagpur Metro began in 2015 and the entire first phase is expected to be complete by December 2020.
