Loco pilots, Guards, Gateman, Trackman, Station Masters, Pointsman, RPF and all other Railway staff Asked to Maintain Extra Vigil

Approx. 150 Shramik Special trains operated on NCR and more than 26000 persons brought in 22 terminating Shramik trains

North Central Railway has always remained very sensitive to any unauthorised movement / trespassing on railway track and many steps are taken to curb this besides regular public awareness campaigns on this important issue.

Though regular coaching services were stopped in lockdown however in view of continuous freight and parcel train movement specific awareness campaign was taken up by North Central Railway requesting public not to use railway track for movement and around 12 Lakh SMS were sent to general public over NCR territory apart from notifying movement of Goods and Parcel trains through different media means on regular basis.

Now with start of Shramik Specials, more than 250 daily trains are operating on different routes and safe & smooth train operations is prime concern for NCR. Considering the present level of train operations and movement of migrant labours etc. on foot near tracks,

Shri Rajiv Chaudhry General Manager, North Central and Northern Railway has given specific instructions to all the divisions for strict monitoring on all such movements. Accordingly, a safety drive has been launched on North Central Railway over and above regular efforts to curb unauthorised movement/ trespassing of Railway Track.

Thrust on following specific areas has been given in fortnight-long safety drive launched on NCR:

  • All loco pilots, guards, gateman, trackman, station masters, pointsman, RPF and all other Railway staff have been advised report any unauthorized movement/ trespassing of railway track by any person and they have been directed to bring any such movement to the notice of nearest station / Control / Supervisor / RPF post so as immediate action is initiated.
  • All three divisions of North Central Railway have been advised to keep proper record of any such unauthorised movement observed with detail of follow up action taken. Divisions have also been directed to send report on completion of drive so as further action needed in this regard can be also initiated
  • Public awareness campaigns counselling are also being intensified though various available means like phamplet distribution, use of print , electronic & social media etc .

Based on prior written consent from concerned state governments Shramik special trains are being run. Till 09.05.20, NCR is expected to handle about 150 Shramik Special trains bringing more than 26000 migrants and other stranded persons through 22 terminating Shramik Special trains at different stations as per the following details:
