New line between Khalilabad and Bahraich

A 240 km new railway line will be built between Khalilabad and Bahraich via Dumariyaganj, Balrampur and Shravasti at a sanctioned cost of Rs 4,940 crore on the North Eastern Railway.

The foundation stone for this line was laid in the first week of March. Target date of completion is the fiscal year 2024-25.

The line will pass through the districts of Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharthanagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti and Bahraich.

It will have 2 bridges over the Rapti river, besides 32 major bridges, four junction stations (Bahraich, Balrampur, Jharkhandi, Khalilabad), 16 crossing stations besides 12 halt stations enroute.

Three religious centres, namely Shravasti for Buddhists, Shobhnath temple for Jains (birthplace of Sambhavanath Teerthankara) and Tulsipur, located at a distance of 25 Km from Balrampur, home to Devi Patan temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas of Maa Durga will be connected to the Indian Railway network once the line is completed.
