NFR constructs two new platforms at New Jalpaiguri

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has constructed additional two new platforms (PF) at New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway station, said a statement. This will enable smoother handling of train operations at NJP.

As per the revised platform numbering system the new platforms from the main entrance side of NJP station have been numbered as PF1 and PF2. The existing platforms have been re-numbered as follows:

  • PF-1A has been renumbered as PF-3,
  • PF-1has been renumbered  as PF-4,
  • PF-2 has been renumbered as PF-5,
  • PF-3 has been renumbered as PF-6,
  • PF-4has been renumbered as PF-7 and
  • PF-5 has been renumbered as PF-8.

This rationalisation is intended to bring uniformity and reduce confusion among passengers. Several important long-distance trains have been nominated on the revised platforms at NJP.

These include Kamakhya – Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper Express (27576 DN) and Guwahati–Rohtak Amrit Bharat Express (15671 DN), Dibrugarh–New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12423 DN), Guwahati–Kolkata Garib Rath Express (12518 DN) and Agartala–SMVT Bengaluru Humsafar Express (12504 DN) have been nominated on PF 6.

Dibrugarh–Chandigarh Express (15903 DN) and Kamakhya–Anand Vihar Terminal Express (15621 DN) will be received on PF 5, New Jalpaiguri – Howrah Vande Bharat Express (22302 DN) PF 4 while NJP – Ara Express (13245 DN) has been nominated on PF 2.

Passengers have been advised carefully check the updated platform numbers through station announcements, digital display boards, enquiry counters and official railway communication channels.
