
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, dedicated to the nation, the 4.3-km Chennai Beach – Chennai Egmore fourth railway line built at a cost of ₹273 crore. This line is a part of Southern Railway’s (SR) Chennai division.
This project enhances line capacity, decongests one of the busiest corridors in Chennai, enables additional passenger and freight services, benefits thousands of daily commuters while improving operational efficiency.
He also inaugurated eight railway stations under SR jurisdiction redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme via video conferencing. These stations are Bommidi, Karaikkudi, Manaparai, Morappur, Pollachi, Sholavandan, Srivilliputtur and Tiruvarur.
These stations have been redveloped at a total cost of ₹105 crore.
