Summer Specials: SR to run special train between Tiruchirapalli and Ernakulam.

Southern Railway is running a rather special train – this is perhaps the first time such an attempt is being made.

The train in question is a summer special to clear extra rush of passengers. The train is routed from Tiruchirapalli to Ernakulam via Chennai. The train leaves Tiruchirapalli on 06, 20, and 27 April and on 4, 11, 18, and 25 of May 2019. The train departs Tiruchirapalli at 14.20 hrs. and reaches Ernakulam at 08.45 the next morning.

The trains comprise of all classes of accommodation – First Class AC, AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper Class, and Second Class unreserved.

What is unique about this train is the route via Chennai Egmore. This is more like Southern Railway running two special trains combined as one. The enroute departure timings at major stations are Villupuram 16.55 hrs., Chennai Egmore 19.45 hrs., Salem 01.10 hrs. next day, Erode 02.10 hrs., and Coimbatore 03.50 hrs

This looks like a 2-in-1 special train combining two major routes of Tiruchirapalli – Chennai and Chennai – Ernakulam.
