SWR Inducts First Batch Of Lady Sub Inspectors

Seven (7) Lady Sub Inspectors out of 164 women sub-Inspectors cadets who have passed out of RPF training centre, Moula Ali, Hyderabad were posted on SWR.   The training of the SI cadets was rigorous for a period of 09 months at Moula  Ali with class room training on various subjects like IPC, Cr. P.C, Indian Evidence Act, RP (UP) Act, Railway Act, General working of railways etc.  Outdoor training consisted of squad drills, weapon training, yoga, martial arts etc, of 4 hours a day was the prime component of training.

The sub-Inspectors once join in duties take care of security of railway passengers, Railway property and Railway premises. In discharging duties, Special care is to be given to vulnerable sections of society, women and children.

In the backdrop of Covid-19 pandemic, sufficient precautions like use of Mask, sanitizing & social distancing have been practised by the SI cadets, Three (3) more Lady Sub Inspectors are expected to join SWR who are undergoing training at Lucknow. The 7 Lady sub Inspectors will be posted to major stations on SWR for regular duties on completion of their 2 months practical training over the Zone.

Further 120 ladies are undergoing constables training for various training centres across India. This will go a long way in empowering women on Railways. Ms. Namrata Angadi, one of the SI cadets selected, is from Dharwad . She is elated and happy to start her career in her home turf. She is a Bharatnatyam dancer, Volleyball player and Dilettante too.  She is a B.Tech (Electronics and Communication engineering) graduate from BVB College, Hubballi.  She aspires to focus on rescue of runaway children, preventing and combating women trafficking shall be the vision for joining the force apart from regular duties. Railways being Lifeline of the Nation, connecting millions of people each day. Maintaining Good public relations at Station Limits one aspect she will lay emphasis upon, she said.

Another cadet is Ms.Chirag from Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan and completed M.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Banasthali University, Rajasthan. She was trained in equestrian and is proficient in Horse riding and participated in Equestrian at university level.  Providing security to women and children will be a priority to get to make their journey safe, from the moment they enter the railway premises till they leave.
