WR dismantles unsafe Vile Parle FOB

Western Railway (WR) dismantled three spans of the south foot-overbridge (FOB) at Vile Parle. This was done in two consecutive traffic blocks of four hours each on the nights of October12 and 13, 2020.

A new six metre wide FOB has already been opened at Vile Parle in place of the dismantled FOB.

WR has now successfully dismantled 13 FOBs which were declared unsafe for use under the audit conducted by IIT- Bombay.

As per the audit report, 16 FOBs were to be dismantled as they were considered unsafe.

The other FOBs that have been dismantled till now are, Hindi Vidya Bhavan, Marine Lines (Middle), Lower Parel (North), Matunga Road (North), Mahim (North), Bandra (Middle), Bandra (North), Khar Road (Middle), Malad (South), Malad (North), Naigaon (South) and Nalasopara (North).  

The dismantling work of the remaining three FOBs, i.e, Dadar (South), Andheri (middle – out of six spans, two east spans have been dismantled) and Goregaon (middle) are in progress.

The target date of completion for dismantling these remaining FOBs  December 31, 2020.

Eight new FOBs and one sky walk have been commissioned on WR during the lockdown period.

In addition, construction works of Delisle ROB near Lower Parel station and Frere ROB near Grant Road station are in progress.
