WR Removes Permanent Speed Restrictions In Bandra-Khar Section

With the aim of improving mobility as well as enhancing safety & speed, Western Railway has carried out massive work during the lockdown period in Bandra – Khar section of Mumbai Division and has successfully removed Permanent Speed Restriction (PSR) in place, thereby, helping to improve the speed of both local & outstation trains.

With the successful completion of this major infrastructural enhancement, W. Rly will now be able to substantially improve the speed of both local as well as Mail/Express trains in down direction. W. Rly carried out the massive work of dismantling 17 turnouts and slewing & realigning of curves with renewal of 400 track m rails, 1200 sleepers in just 57 days, inspite of the ongoing lockdown, by deploying around 60 men on daily basis.

After the completion of this work, the super elevation has been increased from 60 mm to 105 mm and this has enabled for the removal of PSR. Due to this engineering development, the 60 Kmph PSR from Km 14/22 to 16/01 in 1.191 Km has been relaxed to normal speed of 100 Kmph for 901 meter from Km 14/22 to Km 15/6 and Km 15/12 to 16/1 and 90 Kmph from 15/6 to 15/10-12 in balance 290 m. Net time saving is 90 Seconds due to this development.
