
Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway (SCR) conducted a detailed inspection of newly commissioned chord-line between Sitafalmandi – Lallaguda section on Wednesday.The line connects the Secunderabad – Kazipet mainline with Secunderabad – Dhone line bypassing Secunderabad station.
He commenced his inspection from Sitafalmandi station where in he inspected the station premises, circulating area, station cleanliness, waiting hall, ticket counters, platforms and observed passenger amenities available at the station. He also inspected the Station Master’s room and checked the signalling system and safety equipment available in the station.
Further, he conducted a trolley inspection of the Sitafalmandi – Lallaguda chord line section. He also inspected the signals, points, crossings of the newly commissioned line.
Details of the chord line
- The distance of this line is 2.2 km.
- This new chord line takes off from Lallaguda and passes through Sitafalmandi ‘A’ cabin and Sitafalmandi ‘B’ cabin and joins at Sitafalmandi station.
- Till now, for the trains coming from Kazipet to Kacheguda bypassing Secunderabad, the trains generally passes through Moula-Ali, Malkajgiri to Kacheguda which is almost 15 km distance.
- With introduction of this line both distance and travel time reduces drastically. Trains from Kazipet directly reach Kacheguda via Lallaguda and vice versa with reduction in the distance almost by 12 kms and travel time by around 20 minutes.
- The section is equipped with automatic signaling system
- Five minor bridges constructed as a part of construction of this line.
- Alugadda Baavi RUB is the major bridge on this line
Further, the GM inspected the Lallaguda station, signalling, safety equipment and interacted with the stationmaster. Santosh Kumar Verma, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division and other senior Railway officials from the headquarters and division accompanied him throughout the inspection.
CRS inspection done on July 2,2026
The newly constructed Sitafalmandi – Lallaguda chord line was inspected by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Central Circle, Secunderabad, Ms. Madhavi, on July 2, 2026. The CRS gave clearance for public carriage of passenger and goods traffic on this section. The inspection was followed by a successful speed trial between Lallaguda and Sitafalmandi, confirming the infrastructure’s readiness for train operations.
The project comprises a 2.2 km chord line seamlessly integrated into the existing railway network through the Lallaguda Yard, Sitafalmandi A Cabin, and Sitafalmandi B Cabin. The project involved the insertion of 19 new points and crossings and the removal of five existing points and crossings, along with extensive modifications to the signalling and interlocking systems to enable safe, efficient, and reliable train movements.
