Western Railway’s (WR) Rajkot division has successfully relocated a total of eight Right-Hand Side (RHS) signals to the Left-Hand Side (LHS) in the Wankaner–Navlakhi section during April 2026.
Locations covered under this work include Morbi, Barwala Road, Dahisra, and LC-64 (Barwala Road–Dahisra).
Key Benefits of Signal Shifting:
- Significant improvement in safety: Installation of signals on the LHS reduces the chances of SPAD (Signal Passed At Danger), thereby enhancing overall safety in train operations.
- Facilitates timely decision-making: Improved and early visibility of signals allows loco pilots sufficient time to apply brakes and regulate speed, reducing the need for abrupt braking.
- Better visibility for loco pilots: Placement of signals on the left side aligns with the direct line of sight of the loco pilot, minimizing the chances of visual obstruction.
- Standardization: Most signals in Indian Railways are positioned on the LHS, ensuring uniformity across sections and making operations more intuitive for loco pilots.
