
The gazette notification for the formation of a new railway zone named South Coast Railway (SCoR) with headquarters at Visakhapatnam was issued by the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) on May 4, 2026.
SCoR will come into being with effect from June 1,2026. The revised jurisdiction of East Coast Railway (ECoR) and South Central Railway (SCR) are as follows:
The existing Waltair division of ECoR will be bifurcated into two parts. One part will go to the newly formed Rayagada division in ECoR and the remaining will be a part of SCoR. The SCoR part of Waltair division will be renamed as Visakhapatnam division[ Waltair was the old British name for Visakhapatnam railway station].
The jurisdiction of the newly formed Rayagada division of ECoR is as follows:
The 53-km Palasa-Ichchapuram (incl) section which was earlier a part of Khurda Road division, ECoR will be transferred to Visakhapatnam division, SCoR.
The re-drawn boundaries of SCoR’s Visakhapatnam division effective June 1, 2026 is as follows:

In addition, IR has also redrawn the jurisdiction of Guntur, Guntakal and Vijayawada divisions of SCoR and Secunderabad division of SCR effective June 1,2026 as follows:
After transfer of the above mentioned sections, the divisional boundaries between SCoR and SCR will be as follows:
*the existing divisional boundaries between Guntakal and Hyderabad divisions will change to divisional boundaries between Secunderabad and Hyderabad divisions.
