IR to invest ₹252 crore for Kavach implementation over 607.7 route km of NER’s Lucknow Division

Indian Railways (IR) has approved the provision of Kavach Version 4.0 on 607.7 route km of North Eastern Railway’s Lucknow Division (LJN) at a total cost of ₹252 crore.

The project will extend Kavach 4.0 coverage across the following sections of Lucknow division namely (see map above)

1:- Daliganj (Ex.) – Sitapur (Ex.) — 82.3 RKM

2:- Sitapur (Ex.) – Mailani — 106.5 RKM

3:- Gonda – Bahraich — 61.2 RKM

4:- Gainsari – Anandnagar — 96.9 RKM

5:-Anandnagar – Nautanwa — 40.8 RKM

6:- Anandnagar – Gorakhpur — 41.9 RKM

7:- Mankapur (Ex.) – Ayodhya (Ex.) — 38.9 RKM

8:- Gainsari – Gonda — 84.6 RKM

9:- Bahraich – Nanpara — 54.6 RKM

Total — 607.7 RKM

The project will strengthen the safety infrastructure required for train operations across these sections of NER’s Lucknow Division.

What is Kavach?

Kavach is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system designed to enhance operational safety. It helps prevent Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD), automatically applies brakes when required and supports safer train movement by monitoring train operations.
