NCR : Close to 02 million tonnes freight loaded by North Central Railway during lockdown

During the lockdown North Central Railway ensured continuous running of freight and parcel trains to ensure supply of all essential commodities across the length and breadth of the country.

Since start of lockdown North Central Railway has loaded 1.94 million tonnes of freight from different stations including 11.4 lakhs tonnes petroleum products, 2 Lakhs tonnes food grains, 2.5 Lakhs tonnes cement and 40000 tonnes fertilizer.

During May-2020, Baad station of Agra division has loaded 147 rakes of petroleum and bitumen which is highest ever performance despite lockdown related restrictions. Loading by Agra division at IOCL refinery in May 20 is higher by 13.1 % as compared to 130 rakes loaded in May -19 .

On parcel loading front NCR with motto to carry every single packet have loaded 535 tonnes parcel from its 40 notified parcel stations during lockdown. As on 06.06.20, NCR has loaded 175 tonnes of medical goods, 75 tonnes perishables, 145 tonnes fish and 41 tonnes stationery items.
