NER Lucknow division: CRS inspects Burhwal Ghaghra Ghat 11.77-km third line

The Commissioner of Railway Safety (North Eastern Circle), Shri Pranjeev Saxena, conducted a thorough safety inspection and successful speed trial on the newly constructed third electrified railway line between Burhwal and Ghaghra Ghat (11.77 km) on the Gonda-Burhwal section on Monday, April 6, 2026.

The CRS began the inspection from Burhwal Junction by motor trolley. He meticulously examined the structural safety of bridges, including major bridge No. 391 over the Ghaghra river, track alignment, bearings, expansion systems and other critical safety parameters.

He also inspected level crossing No. 303 (Special) and interacted with the gateman on duty to assess safety preparedness.

The inspection concluded with a successful speed trial on the 25,000-volt AC electrified third line by running CRS special train at a maximum permissible speed of 120 kmph.

The third line project on the Gonda-Burhwal section is being executed in four phases. Work on the Gonda Kachahri-Burhwal section (57.19 km) has been completed now, while the final phase between Gonda Junction and Gonda Kachehri (4.88 km) is in progress. This will boost line capacity, reduce congestion, and improve train operations on this route.

The CRS was accompanied by DRM Lucknow Division NER, Gaurav Agarwal, Chief Administrative Officer/Construction NER Abhay Kumar Gupta, Chief Electrical Engineer/Construction NER, O.P. Singh and other senior officials.
