New Line: Mysuru – Kushalnagar sanctioned

The Railway Ministry has sanctioned a new railway line between Mysuru (Belagola) and Kushalnagar in Kodagu District of Karnataka.

The line has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 1,855 crores, according to a letter addressed to the General Manager, South Western Railway (SWR) by the Finance Commissioner, Railway Board. The line coves a total distance of about 87 .

An interesting fact about this new line is the allocation for Electrification (OHE) of Rs. 59 crores, which probably means that the line will be laid and electrified simultaneously – perhaps the first time a line is electrified at launch.

A copy of this letter was tweeted by the Hon’ble MP for Kodagu, Pratap Simha.
