North Central Railway Making Efforts To Increase Sectional Speed With Safety In Train Operations

North Central Railway under the able leadership of General Manager North Central and Northern Railway is putting its best foot forward to maintain safety while improving the sectional speed of its sections. North Central Railway serves a major portion of the two most critical trunk routes connecting national capital to eastern, southern and western part of nation. The speedy connectivity through trains can only be achieved through up-gradation and maintenance of current infrastructure. In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, North Central Railway performed substantially well in improving its sectional speeds and completing safety related works.

The entire Ghaziabad-Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay section of Prayagraj Division, which is the more than 50% of very important Delhi-Howrah trunk route has been upgraded to sectional speed of130 kmph after due clearance from Commissioner Railway Safety. The safety has been a key priority area for NCR and in order to ensure it conventional as well as modern technological tools are being used. Track health has been monitored over the zone using Total oscillation monitoring system (OMS). The system has been used to record 21523 km of tracks over NCR during first quarter of ongoing financial year.

Ultrasonic flaw detection technique is used to identify the flaws in tracks which are not visible through bare eyes. During the first three months almost 7000 track kilometer Ultrasonic flaw detection (USFD) testing have been done. 1872km. tamping of mainline has been done during the period. During the current year, 1099 nos. turnouts have been tamped, 16.069 track kilometer deep screening of main line have been done,.

Destressing of tracks is an essential part of track maintenance during which the stress caused due to temperature fluctuation is relieved. 194.4 track kilometer of destressing has been done over the zone. Total 50 track kilometer Through Rail Renewal (Primary) 60kg. has been done upto June, 20 this financial year, this will enable the better load bearing capacity for tracks. Total 34.37track kilometer Through Fitting Renewal has been done during the period.Level crossings are not only cause safety concerns but also create operation constraints. In order to eliminate manned level crossing 01 Road over bridge (ROB) & 01 Road under bridge (RUB)have also been completed during the current financial year.
