NR Lucknow division replaces two old bridges in Harauni-Jaitipur section

Northern Railway (NR) Lucknow Division successfully executed the cut and connect works in the Harauni-Jaitipur section on May 11, 2026 dismantling of two ageing Down line bridges, and replacing them with new bridges at the same locations.

This will ease rail traffic congestion and boost the operational speed of trains moving through the Lucknow- Kanpur corridor.

Key highlights of the works include:

• Strategic Execution: The engineering teams successfully utilized an 8-hour traffic shadow block (from 11:00 hrs to 19:00 hrs) of Ganga Bridge No. 110. This approach ensured that the vital upgrades were completed with minimal disruption to the broader railway network.

• Major Track Diversion: The project involved a substantial diversion of the Down track spanning a length of 2.1 kilometers, safely routing traffic around two existing bridges.

• Precision Engineering: Seamless cut connection activities were successfully executed at both ends of the section to integrate the new alignment safely into the existing network.

• Rigorous Safety Standards: Prioritizing passenger safety and operational integrity, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) conducted a thorough inspection of the site on May 9, 2026, granting the necessary clearances for the final execution.
