To transport essential commodities in different parts of the country since the beginning of the Nation-wide lockdown, ER’s freight services are on 24×7 basis transporting foodgrains, fertilizer, coal, minerals and different other consumable inputs.
Eastern Railway has run 262 freight trains on 5.7.2020 with breakup as given below:-

Clinker – 6 Rakes
Container – 14 Rakes
Coal & Mineral – 68 Rakes
Edible oil-1 Rake
Fertilizer – 7 Rakes
Foodgrain- 4 Rakes
Iron & Steel- 5 Rakes
Jute – 1 Rake
Maize – 12 Rakes
Onion – 2 Rake
POL – 6 Rakes
Salt – 1 Rake
Sand – 2 Rakes
Slag-2 Rakes
Sugar – 1 Rake
Steel – 5 Rakes
Stone – 11 Rakes
Besides, 81 empty rakes ran out at different freight operating points to facilitate loading of essential commodities.
Everywhere health & hygiene of field staff have been given top priority following the basic guidelines of social distancing. Proper sanitisation is also being done wherever required.
