Eastern Railway commissioned an Intermediate Block Signalling (IBS) system at Chhit Makandpur between Nathnagar and Akbarnagar, along with double distant signalling between Bhagalpur (Kiul end) and Akbarnagar on Friday, April 17, 2026.
This is the first IBS commissioning by Malda division in 2026–27 and the fifth overall in 2026.
Level Crossing Gates have been fortified with interlocked Gate Stop signals and upgraded systems, ensuring safer passage for both rail and road users. With the commissioning of IBS and double distant signalling, line capacity is enhanced and delays are reduced.
