FY21: A freight-heavy fiscal for CR

Central Railway(CR) transported 40.85 million tonnes of freight in 7.71 lakh wagons from March 23, 2020 to December 17,2020 averaging 2855 wagons per day.

Of this, CR transported coal in 2.99 lakh wagons, containers in 2.32 lakh wagons, cement in 53,456 wagons, food grains in 8,067 wagons, fertilizer in 36,542 wagons, Petroleum, oil and lubricants in 72,284 wagons, iron and steel in 19,786 wagons, sugar in 4,107 wagons, onions in 7,616 wagons, de-oiled cake in 4,054 wagons and other miscellaneous freight in 33,855 wagons.

Central Railway also transported 1.76 lakh tonnes of parcel traffic comprising essential commodities like medicine and pharma products, e-commerce items, mail and other hard parcels and milk.

Using time-tabled parcel trains, 703 in number, CR transported 1.04 lakh tonnes . In addition, CR also transported 68533 tonnes through parcel vans of special trains run from June 1,2020 and 3,449 tonnes of milk in Railway Milk Tankers.
