SWR: CRS inspects Tumakuru-Urukere-Thimmarajanahalli new line

The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) Janak Kumar Garg conducted a statutory inspection of the 11-km Tumakuru – Urukere and the13-km Urukere-Thimmarajanahalli new railway line on March 27, 2026.  This was followed by a high-speed trial run.

He was accompanied by Ajay Sharma, CAO/Construction,  Ashutosh Kumar Singh, DRM/Bengaluru and Pardeep Puri, Chief Engineer/Construction.

This section is part of the 191-km Tumakuru – Chitradurga – Davangere new line project and aims to reduce the distance between Bengaluru and Hubballi.

The sanctioned cost of the project is as follows:

Capital-Rs 932.19 crore

Safety Fund -Rs 50.62 crore,

Deposit (share of state government) – Rs 834.82 crore and

Extra Budgetary Resources (special) or EBR (S) – Rs 0.1 crore totalling Rs 1817.73 crore.
