SWR Ferries More than 1 Lakh People To Their Native States

SWR on Sunday operated 12 more Shramik Special trains, 6 to Uttar Pradesh and 3 to Bihar and 1 each to Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir.


SWR has so far run 76 Shramik Specials for migrant workers, students and families to return to their home towns, in different parts of the country after relaxation of Lockdown in Karnataka.  By the 74th Shramik Special SWR had reached the magical figure of 1 Lakh passengers transported to their hometowns.
Hon’ble Minister of Railway has tweeted that Railway has become a blessing for the people by helping those stranded far away due to Lockdown, reach their hometowns and Railways is ready to run trains from any district to anywhere.
In addition to ferrying passenger to their hometowns, Railway continues to keep the supply of food chain by transporting essential commodities and raw materials to keep the economy moving. 
Further to enhance medical help in emergency, SWR has modified 320 passenger coaches to be used as Covid Care Centres in the possible exigency of keeping Covid-19 patients in isolation as and when required by the Government.
Railway has without doubt in this crisis, shown that it is the life line of the nation.
