SWR: Railway Hospitals in Bengaluru, Hubballi and Mysuru Ready for Critical Care of COVID-19 Patients

RAILWAY HOSPITALS  AT BENGALURU, MYSURU AND HUBBALLI READY FOR CRITICAL CARE TO FIGHT COVID -19 MENACE.

Railway hospitals at Bengaluru, Mysuru and Hubballi are now ready to meet any emergencies arising out of cases of Covid -19.  With the COVID-19 pandemic beginning to create a sense of concern, the Railway administration has stepped up its health care with increase in ICU beds and ventilators which are required for critical care and treatment of patients affected in the coming days.

At the Divisional Railway Hospital, Bengaluru a 50 bedded hospital with 06 Nos. of ICU beds has become fully operational for those tested positive to the Covid-19.  The full hospital is converted as a Covid Hospital. All the beds have piped oxygen supply.  ICU is having 03 ventilators, 06 Multi-para monitors, infusion pumps, defibrillator etc.  Procurement of additional 03 Nos.of ventilators is under process. The other wards are having 06 monitors and 30 Nos. of Finger tip Pulse Oxymeters, Cpap, 01 Oxygen concentrator for emergency response to the Covid victims. 

At Divisional Railway Hospital, Mysuru, 74 beds out of 101 beds are earmarked for Covid-19 patients, with 06 Nos.of HDU beds, 06 monitors, 02 ventilators and other essential equipments for emergencies.

Central Hospital, Hubballi is 150 bedded hospital, out of which 30 bedded isolation block has been earmarked for Covid-19 patients. The 30 bedded isolation block is prepared with 08 bedded ICU, 04 ventilators, 06 multi-para monitors, Defibrillator, infusion pumps.  Oxygen supply is made through pipe line in all the 08 beds in ICU.  

PPE Kits, N95 masks, Triple Layer Masks are also available at all the Hospitals.  All doctors and para medical staffs are trained to handle Covid patients as per the guidelines given by the MoHFW, Govt. of India.  Doctors and Nurses are trained in operating Ventilators. Additional requirement of cardiac monitors, pulse oxymeters, oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, wheel chairs etc. in case of increase in cases is also under process. 

As an immediate requirement and preparatory measure for treatment of patients with Covid-19, SWR has prepared Isolation wards at Central Hospital/Hubballi with 16 beds and at Railway Hospital, Mysuru with 10 beds.  Quarantine wards at 7 locations of SWR have also been created for suspected cases and symptoms of the virus. These facilities are open to the general public and also for use of State Govt.
