On May 12, 2026 (Tuesday), Loco Pilot Ramesh P. and Assistant Loco Pilot Chintan Kumar were operating Train No. 52946 Junagadh–Veraval Passenger. During the journey, near Kilometer No. 05/01 on the Junagadh–Visavadar section, they suddenly noticed a pride of six lions crossing the railway track.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the loco pilot displayed exceptional presence of mind and promptly applied emergency brakes, bringing the train to a safe halt and preventing a potential accident. All six lions were thus saved from being hit by the train.
Following this, the loco pilot immediately informed Train Manager (Guard) Lalan Kumar. A Forest Department tracker reached the spot and safely guided all the lions away from the railway track. Once the situation returned to normal, the loco pilot was granted permission to resume the journey, and the train proceeded cautiously toward its destination.
