
Central Railway successfully completed the Non-Interlocking (NI) works at Jaulkhera yard on August 21, 2026 as part of the Itarsi–Nagpur 3rd line project.

The major features of the NI work are as follows:
Upgradation of Signalling System:- The existing Panel Interlocking has been upgraded to Electronic Interlocking (EI), with provision for the 3rd Line incorporated into the system.

Modification of Turnouts: 11 new turnouts have been inserted and 10 existing turnouts have been dismantled as part of the yard remodelling.
Upgradation of Main Line Turnouts: Two Main Line turnouts have been upgraded from 1 in 8.5 to 1 in 12, with Thick Web Switch (TWS) provision, facilitating smoother and safer train movements.
Correction of Defective Layouts: All defective layouts in the entire yard have been rectified, improving the overall operational efficiency and safety of train movement.

Augmentation of Clear Standing Room (CSR): The CSR of existing lines has been increased as follows:
Up Main Line: 710 metres to 786 metres
Up Loop Line: 710 metres to 786 metres
Down Main Line: 710 metres to 874 metres
Down Loop Line: 710 metres to 800 metres
A&D Siding: 60 metres to 65 metres
The successful completion of the Jaulkhera yard non interlocking works will enhance yard capacity, operational flexibility and train handling efficiency besides facilitating safer and more efficient movement of trains.
