Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway (SCR) inspected the first successful KAVACH upgradation works (from version 3.2 to 4.0) between Malkajgiri and Kamareddi (108 route km) section by travelling in a special train on Tuesday.
Based on deployment of Kavach version 3.2 on 1465 Route Kilometres on SCR and experience gained, further improvements were made. The latest Version 4.0 is equipped with enhanced safety, advanced technology, higher reliability and safer operations.
P.V. Murali Krishna, Principal Chief Signal & Telecommunication Engineer, SCR; Shri Santosh Kumar Verma, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division and other senior officials accompanied him. During the inspection, General Manager examined the functioning of various scenarios of KAVACH Ver. 4.0.
Salient Features of KAVACH 4.0:
• Indian Railway has developed, tested and started deploying Automatic Train Protection System, Kavach version 4.0.
• Kavach version 4.0 covers all the major features required for the diverse railway network. This is a significant milestone in safety for Indian Railways.
• Major improvement in Version 4.0 includes increased Location Accuracy, Improved Information of Signal Aspects in bigger yards, Station-to-Station Kavach interface on Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) and Direct Interface to existing Electronic Interlocking System.
• With these improvements, Kavach Ver.4.0. is planned for large scale deployment over Indian Railways.
