
Central Railway (CR) transported over 1.37 billion passengers during the period April 2025 -January 2026, an increase of 1.86 per cent year-on-year. For the same period last fiscal ,CR carried over 1.34 billion passengers in both suburban and non-suburban segments.
Of this, CR carried over 1.2 billion suburban passengers during the April 2025-January 2026 period as against over 1.18 billion in the same period last year. For non-suburban passengers, the number stood at 171.46 million as against 160.41 million last year.
During January 2026, CR carried 146.29 million passengers-129.08 million suburban and 17.20 million non-suburban. Of the suburban passengers conveyed, 127.12 million travelled on Mumbai suburban and 1.96 million on Pune suburban.

Introduction of 10 additional services on the Nerul/Belapur-Uran section besides commissioning two new stations-Targhar and Gavan- on this section has increased the tally of daily suburban passengers.
At present, CR operates 1820 suburban services, including 94 AC local services each day.
