The top brass of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL), on Thursday, met project consulting firm Aarvee Associates Architects, Engineers & Consultants (P) Ltd to discuss the new Dedicated Freight Corridor between Dankuni and Surat.

The items on the agenda included updating of the Detailed Project Report (DPR), modifications suggested by Zonal Railways, the basis of traffic projections, and financial models incorporated in the DPR. [ The DPR has to be updated because the earlier plan of East West DFC was to connect Dankuni and Palghar. However, this would have meant building many tunnels on the Western Ghats to reach Palghar. With the DFC alignment now ending at Surat, there would be no tunnelling required as the line would run parallel to the Tapti valley line between Jalgaon and Udhna near Surat. The East-West DFC will connect to the Western DFC at Surat as per the new alignment.]
These discussions are being done to strengthen planning and advance the development of the proposed East-West Dedicated Freight Corridor.
Praveen Kumar, MD/DFCCIL, Shobhit Bhatnagar, Director/OP&BD and Anurag Sharma, Director/Infra attended the meeting along with other DFCCIL officials.
