
Train operations were normalised in Khurda Road division of East Coast Railway near Jakhapura yard in Jajpur Odisha following the re-railment of three coaches of train number 22611 Chennai- NJP express. The train derailed at 851 hours on Thursday morning.
Re-railment operations commenced at 13:05 hrs. The AC 2-Tier coach was re-railed at 13:30 hrs, followed by the first General coach at 13:50 hrs and the second General coach at 14:45 hrs. All necessary safety checks were carried out thereafter.
The restoration work was closely monitored by the General Manager, ECoR, at the site along with senior officers.
No casualties were reported in the derailment. Alert on-duty RPF personnel, who noticed abnormal sound and smoke from the train promptly alerted the Loco Pilot to stop the train.
They further ensured passenger safety by advising passengers to remain calm and not to alight abruptly, thereby preventing panic and possible casualties. Their timely action significantly contributed to averting a major mishap and facilitated swift disaster response.
