ECoR KK line doubling : CRS inspects 10-km Manabar–Jarati section

Brijesh Kumar Mishra, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Eastern Circle, conducted a detailed statutory inspection of the newly constructed second railway line between Manabar and Jarati stations on Monday, February 9, 2026.

The 10-km Manabar- Jarati section is a part of the Kottavalasa–Kirandul (KK line) doubling project under Waltair Division of East Coast Railway.

The newly laid second line is made of 60kg / metre rails and includes two major bridges all constructed in conformity with 25 tonne axle load standards. The infrastructure has been designed to support higher speeds, heavier axle loads, and improved safety standards in line with Indian Railways’ modernisation goals.

Comprehensive statutory inspection, including detailed examination of track, bridges, signalling arrangements and other safety parameters, was carried out. Speed trials were conducted successfully without any adverse observations, following which the section has been authorized for full fledged commissioning.

Commissioning of this second line will significantly reduce congestion, increase sectional capacity and facilitate faster movement of trains.

The doubling will meet the growing transportation demands of the region, particularly mineral and industrial traffic on the KK line. During the inspection, the CRS was accompanied by Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair, along with other senior officials.
