ER: Special Arrangements for Pilgrims during Ganga Sagar Mela 2020

Eastern Railway has made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of the pilgrims during Ganga Sagar Mela 2020 at Kakdwip, Namkhana, Lakshmikantapur and Diamond Harbour.

At Kakdwip, 5 ticket checking counters will be kept opened round the clock with 1 ATVM machine with facilitator. 14 addittional booking staff will be deployed to serve the pilgrims. Additional ticket checking staff will also work round the clock.

At Namkhana, 5 ticket counters will be operated round the clock with 9 booking staff serving the ticket counters. Additional ticket checking staff wiil also be deployed.

At Sealdah South station, 7 counters in the morning and evening and 4 counters at night are being operated w.e.f. 11.1.2020.

Special RPF booths will be opened at Kakdwip, Namkhana, Lakshmikantapur and Diamond Harbour,  320 RPF personnel have been deployed in the section for the security of the pilgrims. Scouts & Guides are deployed at Sealdah while St. John Ambulance staff at Kakdwip and Civil Defence staff at Namkhana will be deployed for the convenience of the pilgrims. CCTV surveillance, announcement system has been arranged at Namkhana and Kakdwip round the clock during the mela period.

Special stress has been laid on additional illuminations at Kakdwip, Namkhana, Lakshmikantapur and Diamond Harbour stations with special emphasis on overall cleanliness and amenities items on those stations.

At Kakdwip, Namkhana, Lakshmikantapur, Diamond Harbour and at all intermediate stations, additional railway staff will be working round the clock to guide and assist the pilgrims of the Ganga Sagar Mela.

GANGA SAGAR MELA SPECIAL TRAINS

Eastern Railway will run 11 Ganga Sagar EMU Mela 2020 Special galloping trains between January 12 – 17, 2020 from Sealdah South, Kolkata, Lakshmikantapur, Namkhana, Kakdwip. Besides, 4 local regular trains in the section will be extended during the mela period. Out of these trains, 2 trains will leave from Sealdah South, 2 trains from Kolkata station, 3 trains from Namkhana, 1 from Lakshmikantapur and 3 trains from Kakdwip.

Mela special will leave Sealdah South at 6.15 hrs. & 14.40 hrs., from Kolkata station at 7.35 hrs. & 21.30 hrs., from Namkhana 9.10 hrs, 18.35 hrs. & 2.05 hrs., from Kakdwip at 11.32 hrs., 14.40 hrs. & 19.19 hrs. and from Lakshmikantapur at 23.15 hrs.

The Galloping Mela Special trains will stop at Ballygunge, Sonarpur, Baruipur, Lakshmikantapur, Nischindapur & Kakdwip stations. Kolkata – Namkhana & Kolkata – Kakdwip galloping Mela special will also stop at Prinsep ghat & Majerhat stations.
