
Naresh Pal Singh, General Manager, North Central Railway (NCR) unfurled the national flag at Prayagraj on the occasion of the nation’s 77th Republic day.
Addressing the gathering, he said, “To better serve our passengers on heavily saturated routes, we have introduced 18 new trains and added 38 new stoppages. To meet passenger demand during peak crowd occasions, we operated 1,110 trips of special trains, and consistently augmented coach capacity based on real-time needs.

NCR transitioned five passenger trains to MEMU services and standardized 15 trains to 22-coach compositions, creating 1,376 additional berths.
To cater to increasing number of passengers, NCR extended platform lengths at eight stations so as to receive longer trains and raised the height of 26 platforms across 21 stations.
New platform sheds at 10 stations were provided along with three escalators and five lifts at different stations during financial year 2025-26.
NCR equipped 35 additional stations with specialized facilities for the differently-abled (Divyangjan) taking the total number of such stations to 147.
Coach guidance system and train indication boards were installed at six stations for passenger convenience.

Safety
NCR constructed 23 new foot-over-bridges this fiscal for passenger safety which included nine FOBs which were 12 metres wide. NCR has completely installed fire and smoke detection system in all its AC coaches and power cars.
NCR built 42 road-over-bridges / road-under-bridges, closed 34 manned level crossings while 15 LCs were interlocked with sliding booms and power operated lifting barriers.

NCR did track renewal as follows: Through Sleeper Renewal of 293 km and through rail renewal of 274 km, was completed by December 2025. Deep Screening of tracks by ballast cleaning machines (BCM) was completed for over 281 km, while 108 bridges were rehabilitated /rebuilt / strengthened.

BPAC (block proving by axle counter) has been provided at seven block sections, MSDAC (multi-section digital axle counters) with dual detection on 1013 track sections and fire alarm system at 198 stations have been provided.
Train protection and warning system KAVACH was installed in 183 three-phase locomotives- 96 WAP-7 and 87 WAG-9.

Infrastructure
During the current fiscal, about 79km of multi tracking works with electrification has been commissioned. In addition, Sabalgarh-Birpur gauge conversion and Aligarh-Daud Khan 3rd line has also been offered for CRS inspection.

Electronic interlocking and automatic signalling was commissioned along 172.29 km this year. This fiscal, Rail Spring Karkhana, Sithauli, produced over 1.24 lakh springs an increase of about 56 per cent over last year.
Revenue
NCR’s freight earnings rose 12.65 per cent year-on-year by December 2025 while gross earnings rose6.80 per cent yoy for the same period.
Energy savings
NCR converted a total 45 of LHB rakes to operate on head-on-generation saving Rs 52.17 crore worth of diesel in the process.
