NFR: Murkongselek-Sille new line CRS Inspection on Feb 12 and 13

 Sumeet Singhal, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Northeast Frontier (NF) circle,will conduct a two-day statutory inspection of the newly constructed Murkongselek-Sille section (approximately 15.60 km) on February 12 and 13, 2026.

This section constitutes the first phase of the 26.15 km long Murkongselek-Pasighat new railway line project under Tinsukia Division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).

Post CRS inspection and subsequent authorization,regular passenger and goods train services will commence up to Sille. 

Project details

The Murkongselek–Pasighat new railway line is 26.15-km long from Murkongselek in Assam to Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh.

The project is being executed in two phases:

Phase-I: Murkongselek–Sille (15.60 km) and

Phase-II: Sille–Pasighat (10.55 km).

The alignment includes three new stations, namely Sille, Labo and Pasighat, along with several major and minor bridges, Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs).

 Project benefits 

On completion of the entire 26.15 km stretch, the line will improve connectivity for the people of Arunachal Pradesh. It will encourage small-scale industries, tourism and trade in the region; reduce transportation costs and travel time besides ensuring uninterrupted supply of essential commodities.

CRS inspection commences at 0830 hours on February 12,2026 from Murkongselek station. During the inspection, the CRS will be accompanied by senior officials of the NFR Construction Organisation.
