SER: Among the top 3 in freight loading

 Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway  (SER) unfurled the National Flag on the occasion of 77th Republic Day at Garden Reach headquarters, Kolkata.

Delivering his address, he outlined the achievements of SER and said that SER was among the top three highest freight loading zones of Indian Railways (IR).

During the period from April to December 2025, SER loaded 153 million tonnes of freight bringing in freight revenue  of ₹13,432 crore.

He added that SER had completed 55 km of doubling /tripling to increase operational capacity during the April- December period.

On passenger amenities, he said that 80 lifts and 43 escalators have been commissioned at various stations so far. Besides, SER raised platform height of 15 platforms, increased the length of 35 platforms and  provided 212 bays platform shelters at 42 stations.

During the current fiscal, 1104 special trains were run to  the extra rush of passengers.

On safety, the General Manager observed that SER eliminated 16 level crossings while building nine road-over–bridges and 18 subways between April and December 2025.

He added that 72 stations of SER were being developed under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme with Joychandipahar and Govindpur Road stations  already inaugurated.
