124 IR doctors and paramedics take Covid 19 vaccine jab on Day 1

Indian Railways (IR) participated in the country’s Covid-19 vaccination programme on Saturday with 124 of its doctors and paramedics at New Delhi and Jabalpur taking the jab.

IR’s programme was started immediately after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the largest vaccination drive in history. 

On day 1, two hospitals, namely, the Northern Railway Central Hospital (NRCH), New Delhi and the Jabalpur Railway Hospital were the first ones across IR to start the vaccination drive.

Dr Sharad C. Khorwal, MD, NRCH, New Delhi took the first shot of covid vaccine to motivate staff. Similarly, at Jabalpur the MD took the first shot. After vaccination all the recipients were observed for 30 minutes for any adverse reaction.

A total of 51 health care workers of NRCH took the Covishield vaccine on Saturday. Of this, 28 were men and 23 women. At Jabalpur Railway hospital, 73 doctors and paramedics were vaccinated.

None of the healthcare beneficiaries vaccinated today had any serious adverse events following the immunization. The next vaccination session has been planned on Monday, January 18, 2021.
