Alok Kumar Takes Over as AGM, Western Railway

Alok Kumar (IRSME), has taken over as Additional General Manager at Western Railway.

Prior to his posting as AGM/WR, he was working as Chief Administrative Officer of Modern Coach Factory at Raebareli.

He did his Mechanical Engineering from Engineering Council (London) and has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA).

He started his career in 1986 at Western Railway and over the last 34 years has worked at a number of important posts in Indian Railways including the DRM of Bhopal Division. During his tenure at Container Corporation of India, he was instrumental in getting state of the art port cranes at dry ports across India.

As Chief Project Manager at Modern Coach Factory, Raebareli, he led the team that set up the most modern plant in India to manufacture high speed railway coaches and subsequently as Chief Administrative Officer at Modern Coach Factory, he headed the team that pioneered implementation of Industry 4.0 in Indian Railway workshops.

He has been trained in various facets of advanced management at CMU, Pittsburgh; SDA Bocconi, Milan; APEC, Antwerp; IIM, Ahmedabad and ISB, Hyderabad. He won the prestigious Minister of Railways award for Best Project and GM’s efficiency Medal and also received the Institute’s Medal during engineering.
