The Central Organisation of Railway Electrification (CORE) will soon float tenders for electrifying over 1000 route kilometers on Southern Railway.
The tender will be on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis, CORE said in a statement.
Under this contract, electrification of eight important sections of Southern Railway totaling 1009 route km will be taken up.
They are as follows: Tiruchchirapalli-Manamadurai-Virudunagar (217 km), Salem-Vridhachalam-Cuddalore Port (196 km), Dindigul-Palghat (179 km), Sengottai-Tenkasi-Tirunelveli-Tiruchendur (141 km), Virudunagar -Tenkasi (122 km), Shoranur-Nilambur-(66km), Madurai-Manamadurai (48 km)and Pollachi-Podanur (40 km).
