Central Railway has saved Rs.113 crore approximately in its fuel by reducing the use of High-Speed Diesel oil as various measures taken to shift the traction to electric on its jurisdiction. They are:
· Shifting of mail/express trains from Diesel to Electric traction this financial year (April to November 2019) resulted in savings of approx. Rs.92.32 Crore
· Auxillary Power Unit (APU) utilization on locomotives saved approx. Rs.1.70 Crore during the same period.
· Minimising the idling of locos and shutting down of locos wherever necessary, saved approx. Rs.18.96 Crore during the same period.
