Guru Prakash, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Central Circle concluded a two-day safety inspection of the newly constructed Biyavra Rajgarh-Sonkach 24.50-km section under Bhopal-Ramganj Mandi new line project on August 21,2026.
The total length of Biyavra Rajgarh-Sonkach section is 24.50 km. Pipalahera Halt station, 4 main bridges and 53 minor bridges have been constructed on this section.
During the inspection, the CRS carried out a detailed safety examination of the tracks, ballast, bridges, viaducts, road safety, level crossings, station infrastructure and amenities, signalling and telecom infrastructure and over head equipment on a motor trolley.
A successful speed trial was carried out on this section at a maximum speed of 120 kmph post inspection. On the first day of the inspection, a detailed inspection of Biyavra Rajgarh and Sonkach station yards was also carried out.
Works in progress
A total of 80 route km of Nishatpura-D Cabin-Kurawar and Biyavra Rajgarh-Sonkach sections have been commissioned. The remaining Kurawar-Narsinghgarh and Narsinghgarh-Sonkach sections are targeted for completion by the end of 2026-27.
Details of project
The total length of the project is 276 km with 27 stations. Of this, 165-km falls under Kota division and 111 km under Bhopal division. The sanctioned cost of this project Rs 3032.45 crore. Of this, Rs 2307.37 crore is under the Head, Capital, Rs 2307.37 crore under Safety Fund and Rs 146.9 crore under EBR (S) [extra budgetary resources special].
Project Benefits
The project connects Bhopal, Sehore, Rajgarh, Jhalawar and Kota districts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. It will make available a convenient rail route for passenger and freight transport saving about three hours of travel time.
