The Commissioner of Railway Safety(CRS), Lucknow (North Eastern Circle) Mohammed Latif Khan inspected the newly constructed second line and electrified in Nandganj-Taraon (9 km) section of Varanasi division, North Eastern Railway(NER) on November 12,2020.11.16
Nandganj-Taraon doubling is a part of the ongoing Varanasi City-Chhapra doubling project.
The CRS inspected traffic management on the newly doubled section after reaching Nandganj railway station in his inspection vehicle.
The CRS inspected electrification works including 25 KV AC traction line, new foot over bridge, passenger amenities, platform length, station master room, video station panel, fire alarm, station working rules, relay room, points and crossings, besides the signal and sighting board while conducting the safety inspection.
Trolley inspection
After this, the CRS inspected the Nandganj-Taraon Rail section on a push trolley.
He tested the 25KV AC traction line fittings, sighting board, over head line, power feeder, level crossing gates, Curve, standards for bridges/culverts as he reached Taraon railway station.
Also inspected were parameters such as new line fittings as per standards of doubling between both block sections, new signalling, turn outs, ballasting and packing, adequacy of clearance on curvature, points and crossing, over head line, railway track line fittings, electrified colour light Inspection of signal, over head line fittings, relay room, video panel, lock and block token less instrument, block overlap, signal overlap, fouling mark, pedestrian over bridge, besides new platform and passenger safety.
During this time, he ensured the installation of high gauges to the boom locks of the various level crossing gates located in this section so that they conformed with the requirements of the electrified section.
Inspection and safety testing as per doubling cum electrification standards on bridges/culverts and curvature falling in this section was also done.
Speed Trial
After this, the CRS conducted a successful speed trial using an electric loco powered CRS special vehicle.
The distance from Taraon to Nandganj was covered in 10 minutes.The inspection train left from Taraon station at 15:58 pm and reached Nandganj station at 16:08 pm.
Previously, on October 12,2020, the CRS had inspected the 12-km section between Aunrihar and Taraon.
Post this, movement of trains has started on the double line section.Doubling of these sections is likely to expand line capacity besides improving punctuality.
Senior officials of NER and Varanasi Division were present during the inspection.
