
The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Eastern Circle, Sumeet Singhal, on Thursday, inspected the newly laid second line between Kakiriguma and Lakshmipur Road stations in the Rayagada Division of East Coast Railway.

The doubling works are a part of the ongoing Koraput–Singapur Road doubling project.
The CRS conducted a detailed inspection of the 15.285 km doubling section from Kakiriguma (Km 45.885) to Lakshmipur Road (Km 61.170).

The inspection included a comprehensive motor trolley inspection of the entire section and speed trials, covering the newly constructed railway infrastructure and other safety related aspects, as part of the statutory process towards opening the section for train operations.

The Koraput–Singapur Road Doubling Project is aimed at increasing line capacity, improving operational efficiency, facilitating smoother movement of freight and passenger trains and strengthening rail connectivity in the region.The inspection was attended by senior officers from East Coast Railway Headquarters, Rayagada Division and the Construction Organisation.
