East Central Railway has received the requisite approval for increasing the speed of trains between Madhepura and Purnia to 100 kmph. The decision follows the results of the recently conducted speed trials on this section.
Henceforth, the speed on Madhepura-Murliganj section has been increased from 50 to 100 kmph, Murliganj-Banmankhi from 75 to 100 kmph and Banmankhi-Purnia Court station from 60 to 100kmph.
The increase in speed will result in an increase in line capacity, ECR said in a statement.
