Electrification in full swing on Indian Railways

Electrification of several sections on Indian Railways (IR) has been completed recently. They were dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the last weekend. 

They are Jalgaon Udhna (doubling and electrification), Muzaffarpur – Sagauli- Bettiah ( 152 route km at a cost of Rs 239.8 crore) , Barauni-Katihar-kumedpur ( 210 route km at a cost of Rs 238.45 crore), Fatuha-Islampur ( 43 km at Rs 77.86 crore), Daniyavan-Biharsharif (38 route km at Rs 45.51 crore).

Benefits

It will result in better train operations as IR need not change a locomotive for trains travelling to Nepal border (Raxaul), between Katihar and Malda Town besides Fatuha to Rajgir via Biharsharif).
